How to Create a Relaxing Nighttime Routine

On any given Friday night after a long day of work, I love to stay in and give myself a night to relax and unwind. I’ve created a relaxing nighttime routine for myself that I look forward to every week! I wanted to share my tips and tricks in the hopes that some of these tips and tricks will make it into your own routine.

Nighttime Routine

After dinner is when I begin to unwind. I love to give myself mini facials! Ever since I bought myself a facial steamer, I’ve been even more obsessed with this part of my routine. I lightly wash my face first to remove any makeup I’ve worn throughout the day. I then set up my steamer that I bought from Amazon and love that it has a built-in timer.

While the steamer is going, I’ll catch up on some of my favorite Youtubers. I try to limit watching Youtube during the weekdays because it’s a real time suck. I allow myself to binge on Friday nights as it’s a guilty pleasure!

I’ll put on one of my favorite masks after the steamer goes off and while my face is still damp. Currently, I’m loving either Origins Charcoal Mask or the Sephora Collection Mud Mask. I like to use deep cleansing masks to clear out all the gunk from the past week. I let the mask sit on my face for 30 mins or so. While I wait, I’m either on Youtube or reading a book. 

Reading seriously relaxes me and I love it. I just don’t understand people who don’t like to read, like why?! At the time of this posting, I’m currently reading Difficult Women by Roxane Gay, a series of short stories. It’s interesting and different than the type of books I’m used to reading. I’ve inserted a widget on my blog in the sidebar where you can always see and get an idea of what I’m reading. Go check it out!

Shower time! I like to rinse off my mask while I’m in the shower since it’s a lot easier to scrub off. I also use my shower time to catch up on the latest podcasts that I’m subscribed to. Listening to podcasts have become an integral part of my nighttime routine. I believe there is a podcast out there for everyone. I highly recommend looking for a podcast that you can unwind to, you won’t regret it!

After showering and doing my nighttime skincare routine, I like to make myself some tea. I received this electric tea kettle for my birthday and I can’t imagine my life without it now. I make sure to only drink caffeine free tea at night. If you have trouble sleeping get the sleepy time tea; this works magic! Now, I’m sipping tea in bed and either back on youtube, finishing a book or podcast, and there’s no place I’d rather be.

Ever since I implemented this nighttime routine, I look forward to every Friday night in. I hope some of these tips can help you create a routine and unwind at night!
