Now that it’s officially summer in Boston, the temperatures and humidity are rising. Since it’s so muggy outside, I hate having products on my face that feel heavy and/or sticky. Once the summer rolls around I keep my summer skincare routine simple. In fact, in the summer, I only use three skincare products. Keeping my skincare simple allows me to get out of the house faster and the products I use, keep my skin protected and fresh all day long!
My 3 Step Summer Skincare Routine:
- Cleansing: I’ve been reading articles lately that say it’s not good to wash your face in the morning and that all you really need to do is splash your face with water. I’m not sure if this is true or not, but I have switched my morning cleanser to something gentle. I’m currently using Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Cleanser. It’s a lightweight cleanser that doesn’t foam up but makes my face feel clean without overdrying it. When I don’t feel like my skin needs a traditional cleanser, I’ll just take my Beauty 360 Micellar Cleansing water and run a cotton pad over my face.
- Protecting: The most important part of my routine is making sure my skin is protected from the sun. Now that it’s summer, the Sun and UV rays are stronger. I want to ensure that if I spend any time outside, I’m wearing sunscreen. I’ve already written about my top 3 sunscreens and I do still love them all. Now that it’s getting muggy in Boston though, I’m reaching for Benefit’s Dream Screen sunscreen. This sunscreen keeps me matte, which in the summer is a must for me.
- Moisturizing: My favorite moisturizer of the summer is hands down Skyn Iceland’s Antidote Cooling Daily Lotion. It’s very lightweight, feels very hydrating on the skin, and the best part of it is that it gives off a very cooling effect after you apply. It’s fresh and I love this, I even wear this sometimes in the winter when I want a quick pick me up. When it’s hot out, I definitely reach for this moisturizer.
In the summer, I keep my morning skincare routine very simple, and these three products keep my skin clean, protected, and hydrated! Let me know in the comments section what your summer skincare routine looks like.
