I am sure you know by now the importance of wearing sunscreen, but most people only wear sunscreen in the summer or when the sun is shining. That’s not enough! You need to wear it every. single. day! Yes, that’s right, every single day, rain or shine. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I started to incorporate sunscreen into my skincare routine. It was only until the vanity in me discovered that sunscreen is one of the best, if not, the best tool for anti-aging that I really started to take it seriously. I have oily skin and finding sunscreens for the face that wouldn’t make me look like a greaseball was a challenge. Through lots of trial and error, I’ve found 3 products that are in heavy rotation in my morning skincare routine.

Top 3 Sunscreens for the Face:

  • Benefit Cosmetics Dream Screen SPF 45 Invisible Silkymatte Sunscreen
    Sunscreens for the face

First up on my list is Benefit Cosmetics Dream Screen SPF 45 invisible silkymatte sunscreen. This sunscreen is amazing! I am someone who is really into textures. If it feels weird to the touch or I just don’t like how it feels, I won’t use it no matter how good it is. I was looking for a replacement for my beloved L’Oreal sunscreen the silky sheer face lotion 50+ SPF. Sadly, I think they discontinued it because I can’t find it anywhere! I loved the texture and I was searching high and low for something that had a similar texture. Benefit’s sunscreen fits the bill. It feels so silky on the skin and just like the name suggests, it dries to a matte finish. Perfect for oily skin!

I’ve used this under makeup and it works well with all of my products. I blend it in seamlessly and it doesn’t give my olive skin tone a white cast, win! It also doesn’t make the products ball up or streak, and since it dries to a matte finish, your makeup won’t be sliding all over your face! I’d give this a 10/10 and highly recommend it.

  • Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47

Sunscreens for the Face

Ok, I know what you’re thinking, this product contains argan oil, and you want me to use that on my oily face?! Hear me out though! I’ve been trying Josie Maran’s sunscreen for awhile now and I have to say that I’ve really been liking it. Being honest with you though, at first, I didn’t like this product. I was seriously thinking about returning it but decided to use it a few more times to really form an opinion. It’s nothing like the benefit sunscreen, this product really is like a moisturizer. It feels heavier but oh so hydrating on the skin. I also enjoy the smell. I hate the way most sunscreens smell but this one doesn’t have that chemical smell.

Because this is heavier, you do have to work it into the skin. I also recommend if you are going to wear makeup over this to give this product more time to sink and settle into the skin. This also may sound weird but even though it feels heavy to the touch, when I’m wearing it, I don’t feel it at all on my skin! It gives my face a nice sheen without it looking greasy. I’ve worn makeup on top and it does work well, but I really like this one for no makeup days. Gives me a nice bright complexion.

I think this would be a fantastic sunscreen for the winter months and I’m excited to see how it holds up on my face in the muggy summers of Boston!

  • Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum SPF 30

Sunscreens for the face

I don’t currently have the Supergoop! City Sunscreen in my current stash of products but I have used this before and liked it. It goes on smooth and sank right into my skin; no white cast and no stickiness made this a great product. What I liked about this product that I don’t believe the other two sunscreens have, is protection against pollution. Not only do you have to worry about the UVA and UVB rays of the sun, but you also have to worry about the pollution and smog seeping into your skin, yuck! This product was made for people like me who live and work in the city and are exposed to this on a day to day basis.

Reading reviews on Sephora, a lot of reviewers do say this made their makeup pill, which is a shame. I can’t speak on that as I would only wear this on no makeup days. I definitely recommend this product but would say to get a sample from Sephora and try it out first before you shell out the money for this product, as it’s not cheap!

Bonus!

  • Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist Broad Spectrum SPF 50

Sunscreens for the face

I have to mention the Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist because it is an awesome product! It’s not enough to put on sunscreen once in the morning, or before you do your skincare routine, you have to reapply throughout the day. I admit that I’m not the best at reapplying or worse if I have makeup on how can I reapply sunscreen on top?! That’s where the Supergoop! setting mist comes in handy. It’s exactly what it sounds like, a makeup setting spray with SPF. Yay! No more do you have to worry about messing up your makeup; you just spray the mist all over your face and it will mattify, set your makeup, and give you SPF protection! What’s not to love about that?

You don’t only have to use it if you have makeup, you can use it on no makeup days as well. It’s refreshing and cooling on the skin and it’s a mess-free way to reapply SPF as well as a touch up on the go!

So there you go, my top 3 sunscreens for the face for oily skin! There is no excuse not to use SPF on a daily basis, and if you don’t care about preventing skin cancer (which you should) think about how it’s an excellent anti-ager must have.

I’m always on the lookout for new sunscreens for the face to try! If you have oily skin like me, let me know in the comments down below if there are any that you’ve tried and liked!
